Polygon

Polygon is a Layer 2 scaling platform for Ethereum that enables faster and cheaper transaction processing. It was created to address Ethereum’s issues with high gas fees and limited throughput by offering alternative solutions such as sidechains and rollups. As a result, Polygon allows developers to build high-performance decentralized applications (dApps) while maintaining Ethereum’s security.

Polygon operates its own blockchain, formerly known as Matic Network, and uses various scaling technologies, including PoS (Proof of Stake) chains and zk-rollups. It is widely used in DeFi, NFTs, and blockchain gaming, attracting developers who want to avoid Ethereum’s congestion problems. By integrating with Ethereum, Polygon enables interoperability between different blockchains and contributes to the broader adoption of Web3.
